Publishing Ethics

  • Declaration by the Editorial Offices of Shandong Science and Journal of Qilu University of Technology on Regulating the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

To uphold the rigor and authenticity of scientific research, prevent academic misconduct, strengthen the governance of research integrity, and advance the construction of academic norms. In accordance with the Specifications for Academic Publishing—Definition of Academic Misconduct in Journals (CY/T 174—2019) and referencing the Guidelines for the Boundary of AIGC Use in Academic Publishing (Version 3.0), the following statement is issued regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in thesis writing:

    I. Permitted Scope of Use

Permitted auxiliary use (must be disclosed): Under the premise of not affecting academic originality, limited use of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) tools for auxiliary work is allowed:

    1. Language Optimization: For text proofreading, grammar correction, sentence polishing, and improving expression fluency.

    2. Auxiliary Retrieval: Assisting in literature retrieval or data processing, provided sources are clearly cited.

    3. Formatting: Assisting with non-innovative tasks such as reference formatting and chart standardization.

All such auxiliary uses must be truthfully disclosed upon submission. Authors are required to rigorously verify the output content to ensure its accuracy, reliability, and authenticity. For specific usage boundaries, please refer to the Guidelines for the Boundary of AIGC Use in Academic Publishing (Version 3.0).

    II. Prohibited Scope of Use

    1. Direct Generation of Core Content is Strictly Prohibited: Generative AI tools must not be used to directly write the main body of the paper (including arguments, methods, data, conclusions, original charts, etc.).

    2. Listing as an Author is Strictly Prohibited: Generative AI tools are not eligible for authorship. Authors bear ultimate responsibility for all content.

    3. Concealment of Use is Strictly Prohibited: Any use of generative AI tools for assistance must be explicitly disclosed in the conclusion or methods section.

    4. Relying on AI for Generating References is Strictly Prohibited: Generative AI tools may fabricate false references. Authors must verify each reference individually.

III. Author Responsibilities and Disclosure Requirements

Authors bear full responsibility for the authenticity of the paper's content, data reliability, and academic compliance. For papers using AIGC tools, a Declaration on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence must be submitted and properly noted at the end of the paper. The declaration must include: the name and version of the tool used, time and process of use, proportion of AI-generated content (by character or content), and content involving AI polishing or modification.

IV. Academic Integrity and Accountability Mechanism

This journal reserves the right to review the use of generative AI technology in submitted and published papers. Manuscripts where "the proportion of suspected AIGC-generated content exceeds 20%" upon detection or review will be rejected or retracted as appropriate. All submissions will undergo AI detection. For manuscripts found to conceal AI use, provide false declarations, or constitute academic misconduct, this journal will permanently reject future submissions from the author(s). If adverse consequences occur, this journal reserves the right to pursue legal action.

This statement takes effect from the date of publication. The right of interpretation belongs to the Editorial Offices of Shandong Science and Journal of Qilu University of Technology. The editorial offices will make corresponding adjustments based on the development of generative AI technology.
