Abstract:

We extracted fatty oil from Euphausia superba by supercritical ethanol extraction, and the extraction rate was 6.14%. We determined fatty acids in fatty oil of Euphausia superba by GC after saponification and methyl esterification. We therefore identified 21 compounds altogether. The major components were myristic acid, hexadecanoic acid, oleic acid, eicosapentenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), whose relative contents were 9.25%, 24.35%, 18.25%, 20.28%, and 11.17%. 0.68% odd fatty acids also existed in fatty oil of Euphausia superba.

Key words: Euphausia superba, fatty acid, GC
