Abstract:

This paper applies dynamic routing bus service to urbanrural public transportation by analyzing the status quo of urbanrural public transportation in view of the issue of rural passenger transport and the characteristics of resident trip. A vehicle routing optimization model is presented to minimize the total operation cost based on the limits of vehicle number and capacity. Software Lingo12.0 is then employed to solve the mathematical model. The case of Liushi town validates its effectiveness. Results indicate that the model can be employed to arrange the optimum route for urbanrural public transportation and reduce total operation cost in the condition of satisfying the requirement of passenger transport.

Key words: urbanrural public transportation, dynamic vehicle routing, passenger transport demand
