Abstract: This paper reports on the advance of research, development and field application of laser methane sensors, laser CO sensors, fiber optic wind speed sensors, and fiber distributed sensors, which are essential for gas and fire hazard prevention. Massive amount of monitoring data exist in the coal mine because of the much larger space,ever-growing number and types of equipment. Owing to its unique advantages of high-performance and distributed monitoring, fiber sensors and laser sensors have gradually become the technological development trend of mine sensors.

Key words: coal mine safety;fiber sensing;laser sensor;fire hazard detection, methane sensor, CO sensor;wind speed sensor
