Abstract: A phase demodulation algorithm based on Hilbert transformation is proposed to build a optical fiber distributed acoustic sensing system. This system greatly simplifies the optical structure in the optical time-domain reflectometry system without degrading the demodulation result. It is proved theoretically and experimentally that the new algorithm can accurately and stably demodulate the amplitude, frequency, and position information of the sinusoidal signal provided, which could lead to the accurate measurement of distributed vibration signals.

Key words: Rayleigh backscattering, Hilbert transformation;distributed acoustic sensing, phase demodulation
