Abstract:

Based on the similarity theory of geomechanical model test and the selection principle of similar materials, a series of model specimens simulating shale were made from similar materials using sand as aggregate, paraffin as binder and gypsum as modifier. The similar materials meet the similarity principle, and have the advantages of convenience, low economic cost, simple production process, short molding time and large deformation, etc. A large number of uniaxial, triaxial tests were carried out on similar specimens of soft rock in five different ratios. It is proved that the similar material is feasible for simulating shale and it is concluded that the compressive strength, the tensile strength, the elastic modulus, the cohesion and the internal friction angle of the similar material decrease with the increase of the sand ratio, and the Poisson's ratio increases with the increase of the sand ratio, providing guidance for the further model test research.
