Abstract: We address the impacts of antilock braking system (ABS) on the fuel economy under emergent situations with full velocity difference model and ABS based carfollowing model. Numerical simulation results show that the fuel consumption of a vehicle will increase when the ABS is in operation. Moreover, its change is so severe that the economy of fuel consumption will decrease.

Key words: antilock braking system, fuel economy, carfollowing model
