Abstract:

We investigated the pulse performance of a LDpumped passively Qswitched Nd:YVO4/Cr4+:YAG laser with a 7.5 cm straight cavity. We employed two output plane mirrors with different transmissions and two Cr4+:YAG crystals with different initial transmissions to research the variation of average output power, pulse width, pulse frequency, singlepulse energy and pulse peak power with pump power. High stability and reliability Qswitched pulse with the shortest pulse width of 15 ns was obtained at T=6.5% and T0=60% when pump power was 13.3 W. Its corresponding peak power can reach 3.04 kW, so it has very broad application prospect in military defense.

Key words: Nd:YVO4 crystal, YAG crystal, Cr4+, passively Q-switched
