Optic fiber sensing technology based status monitoring system for locomotive pantograph

Abstract:

Based on fiber Bragg grating sensing technology, we designed an online monitoring system for the pantograph of an electric locomotive. It could monitor realtime dynamic pressure, vibration state, slide stress and temperature of the pantograph. Through simulation, calibration and
testing, we acquired monitoring range of dynamic pressure of 0 ~500 N, and monitoring scope of micro
strain of -0.2% ~0.2%.
