Abstract:

Seafloor observatory networks can achieve longterm and realtime continuous observation in such fields as ocean seabed geology, biology, marine geochemistry and geophysics. This paper reviews research advances on global seafloor cable observatory networks. This paper also addresses their key technologies such as power supply, subsea connection, network infrastructure and project deployment. The paper further presents a preliminary solution. Analysis and prospect are then given for their future development directions.

Key words: seafloor observatory system, seafloor observatory node, power supply
